Huskisson Trip - Report from Bev & Roger Giller
In November a group of over 40 members enjoyed a 5-night stay at Holiday Haven Caravan Park in Huskisson. Accommodation was either BYO caravan in a pleasant bush setting, or a variety of Cabins.
The weather was a mix of sunny, partly cloudy, and rainy, with changeable winds to match. Mark Winnell had prepared a great set of trips and excursions, and with some flexibility in dates and times due to the weather most managed to participate in those that interested them.
We visited Tianjara Falls and Granite Falls, both of which were dry. This allowed us to see the unusual colours and patterns in the rock face. There were quite a number of Wildflowers along the paths to the waterfalls and lookouts. The path to Granite Falls takes you past some old Tin Mine workings.
Bev and I decided not to attempt the Walk at Abrahams Bosom near Currarong, so to pass the time until lunch we went birding. As we walked from the carpark to the boat ramp Bev spied a Buff-banded Rail, not a great rarity but quite shy and seldom seen.
The Jervis Bay Passage cruise date and time were changed to avoid expected strong winds and rain. The commentary was very informative, and we managed to see a pair of dolphins.
As you would expect, there were several Happy Hours, lunches, and dinners. We spent some enjoyable time with old friends and made some new ones.
Special thanks to Mark For organizing a great holiday.
Bev and Roger Giller.
